Pietra Corteforte was built in the beginning of the 1400s in a strategic point in the Fumane valley. It was originally composed of four towers joined together by a high rock wall and was an important point in the defense against attacks from the north. In 1600, the structure became property of an impor- tant family in Verona, who transformed it into noble country residence. The edifice was enriched with arches in marble and ornately decorated. Other dwellings were also constructed nearby. Since 1989, Corteforte is the property of Carlo Maria Cerutti, an enthusiastic grape cultivator that has restruc- tured the winery, maintaining as much as possible its original characteristics. |

“Tenuta Monteti is the result of a long nurtured project which I have pursued with great determination. First ideas date back to my youth in the vineyards of northern Italy. But after many years, it is here, in the Tuscan Maremma, in the Capalbio area, that I have found the ideal conditions for producing wines of great quality with their own personality, wines which are the expression of a land that is both picturesque and archaic and are the result of special care and attention to the soil. Over the last six years we have determinedly used our energies to prepare the land to organize the overall struc- ture and running of the business, and to build the winery. The Tenuta is a hilly area between 100 and 145 meters above sea level. The entire property is 60 acres, of which 25 are planted with vines. Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Alicante and Merlot have been planted.” Paolo Baratta |

The Rivetto family has been producing noble wines in the Langhe region for four generations. It all began with the entrepreneurial activity of great-grandfather Giovanni, who, at the end of the 19th century, began to sell wine in a small food shop near Asti. In 1921, his work was given new impetus, through the far-sighted vision of his son Ercole, just over 20 years old at the time. Along with his brother Nando, they moved to Alba and rented a wine shop in the historical centre, launching a business working with the prized grapes of the Barolo and Barbaresco area and successfully experimenting with wine production. |
